The employee, the pedestrian and a campus around them

By and large, the big strategy at play in Infosys’ Hyderabad campus is to make the campus 100% vehicle free. This design thinking will help create a mini, self-sustained city where everyone walks at his or her own leisure. And if one does not want to walk, there are bicycles and cycle tracks all over.

Vehicular traffic has been completely restricted to the perimeter and to the MLCP outside the campus. The green environment creates a friendly environment for people to walk about, even in peak summer.

Design Direction

A central boulevard

The 32,000 capacity campus has a prominent central, tree-lined avenue that will serve as an important collaboration and movement space for the employees. Along with landscaped pathways, the avenue has water features that help keep temperatures in check even in the harsh Hyderabad summer.

Micro-environments within the micro-city

The master planning is done in a way that every building opens into a grand park, with a plaza in front of it. The plaza provides a buffer space in front of the buildings each of which have two wings to maximise natural light and a view of the landscape.

An eye on the environment

The campus has plenty of blue and green – water and trees. The carbon-free, zero-emission campus has been designed to the highest standards of environmental compliance. All the buildings are completely self-sufficient for power and use renewable sources; the campus is hence independent of power grids. Inter-connected eco-ponds add delightful water presence across the campus.

Designed for scale

For a campus of 32,000 people, it is important to design for function and scale. There are nine food courts which can serve a total of 9000 people at a time. An auditorium of 3500 person capacity provides the company scale to host large events.
